The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Eustaquio Vimaro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 22nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Mariano Azeari's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Prudencio Aurre read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 38th minute of play. 40 minutes into the game, Narciso Gonsalve was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sarmiento's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave ATLETIC FC the free kick. ATLETIC FC's Prudencio Aurre played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ariel Franco in the 44th minute of play. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Vladimiro Burni was the one to do the kick off. In the 76th minute the ball was on its way in behind ATLETIC FC's goalkeeper Prudencio Aurre, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 76 minutes, Nestor Cordarell mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the ATLETIC FC and the Sarmiento players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 76th match minute, ATLETIC FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nestor Cordarell to maneuver through the defense. In the 83rd match minute, ATLETIC FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Teo Lico to maneuver through the defense. 85 minutes into the match, Mariano Azeari had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Prudencio Aurre. ATLETIC FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Mariano Azeari was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-2. Prudencio Aurre made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mariano Azeari in the 93rd minute of play. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
