The supporters of Northampton booed when Atletico Pinares was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ronald Uranga didn't get a good kick on the ball. Oswaldo Botello came out of the goal in the 21st minute to try and stop a shot by Atletico Pinares's Adolfo Montes. But to his dismay, Adolfo Montes quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Mariano Corrales sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Simion Juravschi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Omar Díaz in the 28th minute of play. Omar Díaz recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 30th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some careless play in the Northampton defense, Mariano Corrales kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Oswaldo Botello. The Northampton fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Oswaldo Botello should have stopped the shot. Mariano Corrales received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Oswaldo Botello tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Adolfo Montess short, quick shot in the 42ndth minute got Oswaldo Botello to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. The audience was convinced that Adolfo Montes's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Oswaldo Botello was relentless in the 44th minute of the game. Atletico Pinares's Simion Juravschi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Erick Villatoro in the 46th minute of play. Mariano Corrales sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

53 minutes into the match, Atletico Pinares's goal looked a bit too open when Omar Díaz came free, but Simion Juravschi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 67th minute the ball was on its way in behind Northampton's goalkeeper Oswaldo Botello, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Adolfo Montes in the 69th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Oswaldo Botello prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Oswaldo Botello took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Adolfo Montes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Adolfo Montes struck a weak shot in the 77th minute. Oswaldo Botello didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Atletico Pinares. The Atletico Pinares fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-0. Atletico Pinares's supporters crossed their fingers, but Adolfo Montes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Mariano Corrales fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Oswaldo Botello having to interfere.
