Thanks to some nice moves Selvin Barraza could shoot a difficult shot in the 7th minute, which Alberto Fornos however easily saved by the left post. After some fancy dribbling in the 14th minute, Augusto Pérez managed to get in a good position for a shot. Macclesfield's supporters rose to their feet, but Augusto Pérez was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Leopoldo Corrales breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ricardo Zapata received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. Alberto Fornos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Alberto Fornos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ricardo Zapata, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Alberto Fornos was a little too slow when Ricardo Zapata got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 24th minute. The score was now 1-0. Dagoberto Giron hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. In the 32nd minute, Selvin Barraza made a precise shot to the right of Alberto Fornos. Macclesfield's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. Alberto Fornos made an important save on a dangerous shot by Selvin Barraza in the 38th minute. Selvin Barraza recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 40th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Benji Torres hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. 45 minutes into the game, Macclesfield's Alejandro Gamero nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Leopoldo Corrales made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ricardo Zapata stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Alejandro Gamero sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Edgardo Ulloa fell near the penalty area in the 56th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Macclesfield's protests and gave Edgardo Ulloa a yellow card for diving instead. Cesar Posadas shot the penalty kick right outside the post. With a little luck, Rothley City's Leopoldo Corrales got control of the ball when Augusto Pérez tried to sneak it across the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ricardo Zapata in the 67th minute of play forced Macclesfield's goalkeeper Alberto Fornos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 68 minutes into the match, Rothley City's Ricardo Zapata sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Alberto Fornos narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 88th minute the ball was on its way in behind Macclesfield's goalkeeper Alberto Fornos, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar.
