When Odir Bonilla came up free with the goalie in the 3rd minute, the Leiston fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Odir Bonilla couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Avilio Magaña in the 4th minute of play forced Swansea City's goalkeeper Deris Messias to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Oswaldo Pedrozo struck a weak shot in the 6th minute. Deris Messias didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Leiston. Paolo Martinez sent away a hard shot on goal in the 9th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Deris Messias didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Oswaldo Pedrozo went, in the 11th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. The audience was convinced that Primitivo Salazar's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Paolo Molina was relentless in the 17th minute of the game. Leiston's Paolo Molina played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Primitivo Salazar in the 23rd minute of play. Paolo Martinez recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 25th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Oswaldo Pedrozo might have been able to make a better finish in the 32nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Deris Messias. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Oswaldo Pedrozo ran back to his position shaking his head. 38 minutes into the match, Leiston's Paolo Martinez sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Deris Messias narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Swansea City's Douglas Pimentel got a free kick in the 40th minute. In the 46th minute, Oswaldo Pedrozo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 47th minute, Odir Bonilla hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Paolo Martinez's late challenge caught a Swansea City's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Paolo Martinez helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Swansea City booed when Leiston was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 49 match minutes in a wonderful position. Paolo Martinez didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Paolo Martinez to make the kick off. If Oswaldo Pedrozo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Paolo Martinez received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Deris Messias tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 61 played minutes Swansea City got a freekick which was hit by David Velis. After a defensive mix-up in Leiston's zone, Primitivo Salazar stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Paolo Molina came out of the goal and Primitivo Salazar tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Primitivo Salazar fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paolo Molina having to interfere. Swansea City's Oswaldo Cortez got a good chance for a goal in the 73rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 82nd minute, Swansea City's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Paolo Martinez fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. If Paolo Martinez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Oswaldo Pedrozo struck a weak shot in the 91st minute. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Leiston players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
