With a couple of smart ball manuevers Edwin Lima in the 18th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Mario Medina saved Blackheath from getting behind. Mario Medina showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edwin Lima, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. Rudy Barreto's late challenge caught a Blackheath's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Rudy Barreto helped the player get up and apologised. Rudy Barreto hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. Mario Medina showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rudy Barreto in the 25th minute of the match. A collision led to Blackheath getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Gabriel Peredes hit a great ball. Jonathan Giron hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jonathan Giron in the 38th minute of play forced Birkdale's goalkeeper Gilberto Ayala to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mario Medina showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rudy Barreto in the 43rd minute of the match. Oscar Fuentes blasted a shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Mario Medina having to make a save. 46 minutes into the match, Birkdale's Rudy Barreto sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Mario Medina narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Rudy Barreto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mario Medina having to interfere. Mario Medina made a fantastic save in the 79th minute, when Rudy Barreto sent off a good shot on target. Rudy Barreto received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 82nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
