Scarborough's Christian Mejia got a good chance for a goal in the 5th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 10 played minutes Stockbridge got a freekick which was hit by William Tobar. After a defensive mix-up in Stockbridge's zone, Humberto Amaya stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nelson Zapata came out of the goal and Humberto Amaya tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Félix Quijada fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ulises Hurtado having to interfere. In the 17th minute, Félix Quijada made a precise shot to the right of Ulises Hurtado. Scarborough's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. In the 21st minute, Daniel Baptista got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Christian Mejia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 29th minute, Will Dubon hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Christian Mejia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nelson Zapata having to interfere. Nelson Zapata was a little too slow when Christian Mejia got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 42nd minute. The score was now 1-1. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Félix Quijada made a kick off. Nelson Zapata took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Christian Mejia, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 57 played minutes Stockbridge got a freekick which was hit by Will Dubon. After a rather tough play, Stockbridge's Will Reyes got a free kick in the 58th minute. In the 61st minute of the match Scarborough got a corner. Stockbridge's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Humberto Amaya ran over to the corner to take the kick. If Félix Quijada had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 74 minutes into the match, Stockbridge's goal looked a bit too open when Rene Salamanca came free, but Nelson Zapata reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Rene Salamanca fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nelson Zapata having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Baptista got free with Ulises Hurtado in the 79th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Christian Mejia might have been able to make a better finish in the 81st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Nelson Zapata. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Christian Mejia ran back to his position shaking his head. If Rene Salamanca had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nelson Zapata made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Christian Mejia in the 85th minute of play. After 87 played minutes Stockbridge got a freekick which was hit by William Tobar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Christian Mejia in the 89th minute of play forced Stockbridge's goalkeeper Nelson Zapata to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rene Salamanca received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 90th minute. Nelson Zapata tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Félix Quijada fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ulises Hurtado having to interfere. The supporters of Stockbridge booed when Scarborough was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position. Adolfo Montes didn't get a good kick on the ball. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
