Henry Galdamez recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 16th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 20 minutes had been played when some careless play by South Woodham Ferrers FC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Enrique Rico was slow to take the kick. During this time Southport's players had a chance to rest. After 21 minutes of play, Southport's Enrique Rico made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Rudy Espindola was left in no man's land by his defense there! Southport's Edwin Bautista played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Henry Galdamez in the 24th minute of play. If Edgar Dubon had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 31st match minute, Southport was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Claudio Medrano to maneuver through the defense. Hector Corpeño charged in rather forcefully in the 33rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Though ot was a great shot Southport's keeper Edwin Bautista was sill able to block leaving the score board unchanged. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

After 93 played minutes Southport got a freekick which was hit by Francisco Cerna. When the final whistle sounded Southport left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than South Woodham Ferrers FC.
