The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The audience thought a goal was coming when Orlando Ulloa got free with Ovidio Portillo in the 6th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Bowburn's Ovidio Portillo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mauro Baptista in the 10th minute of play. In the 14th minute, Motagua got a penalty, and Wilber Noyola placed the ball unsaveable into goal, by the right post. Salvador Velis hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 17th minute, Mauro Baptista managed to get in a good position for a shot. Motagua's supporters rose to their feet, but Mauro Baptista was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ovidio Portillo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 24th minute Mauro Baptista shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ovidio Portillo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Marcelo Navarro fell near the penalty area in the 25th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Bowburn's protests and gave Marcelo Navarro a yellow card for diving instead. After 25 played minutes Bowburn got a freekick which was hit by Marcelo Navarro. The long shot by Pedro Hidalgo in the 26th minute really tested Ovidio Portillo's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Dagoberto Sifon blasted a shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Manuel Alfaro having to make a save. Dagoberto Sifon received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Manuel Alfaro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Bowburn's Dagoberto Sifon got a good chance for a goal in the 39th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Selvin Pedrozo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Manuel Alfaro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 44 played minutes Motagua got a freekick which was hit by Juan Navarro. After some fancy dribbling in the 45th minute, Dagoberto Sifon managed to get in a good position for a shot. Bowburn's supporters rose to their feet, but Dagoberto Sifon was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Manuel Alfaro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Dagoberto Sifon to strike the kick off in the second half. Richard Batres made in the 51st minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Bowburn's Arturo Navarro. In the 53rd minute, Dagoberto Sifon reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Manuel Alfaro. The goal made the score 1-1. 60 minutes into the match, Dagoberto Sifon dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Manuel Alfaro, 1-2. Bowburn's Ovidio Portillo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Orlando Ulloa in the 65th minute of play. Dagoberto Sifon might have been able to make a better finish in the 66th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Manuel Alfaro. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Dagoberto Sifon ran back to his position shaking his head. After a rather tough play, Bowburn's Salvador Velis got a free kick in the 76th minute. Selvin Pedrozo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Manuel Alfaro having to interfere. If Dagoberto Sifon had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 91 played minutes Bowburn got a freekick which was hit by Arturo Navarro. In the 94th minute, Mauro Baptista got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The Bowburn supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Bowburn would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
