Seating: 1841, VIP seats: 159) In the 5th minute, Rafael Alas hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Sarbelio Santana, 6 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Januario Berrueta in the 14th minute of play forced Venganza's goalkeeper Antonio Mayen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Antonio Mayen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Januario Berrueta, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. Eraldo Machado's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Fabio Cruz read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 19th minute of play. Januario Berrueta recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 21st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 22 minutes into the match, Oswaldo Campos had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Antonio Mayen. Venganza's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Oswaldo Campos was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Marathón's Fabio Cruz proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 26th minute of the match, managed to save Marathón from getting a goal against them. Ricardo Guardado received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Fabio Cruz came out and tried to block the shot, but Ricardo Guardado slotted it home off the left post making it 1-1 in the 30th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Oswaldo Campos in the 33rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Antonio Mayen prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Januario Berrueta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Oswaldo Campos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Antonio Mayen having to interfere. Rafael Alas charged in rather forcefully in the 44th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Rafael Alas the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Eraldo Machado sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.
After some fancy dribbling in the 58th minute, Ricardo Guardado managed to get in a good position for a shot. Venganza's supporters rose to their feet, but Ricardo Guardado was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Fabio Cruz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After having played for 60 minutes, Eraldo Machado managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Venganza's supporters crossed their fingers, but Eraldo Machado was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Marathón's Fabio Cruz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ricardo Guardado in the 61st minute of play. Januario Berrueta sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 65 played minutes Venganza got a freekick which was hit by Avilio Salguero. Sarbelio Santana made a great header on Marathón's corner, it was just that Venganza's Antonio Mayen managed to reach the ball for a save. Rafael Alas got his second yellow card in the match during the 70th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. Sarbelio Santana was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 72nd played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. When Venganza's Eraldo Machado in the 80th minute got a chance for a shot 80th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Marathón's goalie prevented a goal. Januario Berrueta fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Antonio Mayen having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Marathón's zone, Ricardo Guardado stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Fabio Cruz came out of the goal and Ricardo Guardado tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Fabio Cruz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eraldo Machado, who was totally free with the ball in the 91st minute. The Marathón players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented Venganza from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
