The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Francesco Tarantini fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 5th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joselito Rey having to interfere. Francesco Tarantini received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. In the 24th match minute, Reggae Boys was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Daniel Cerna to maneuver through the defense. When Dino Fantozzi, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 26 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Joselito Rey was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Armand Marant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ovidio Cabrera in the 30th minute of play. 31 minutes into the game, Juan Zaldaña cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Joselito Rey was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Metin Başhekim who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 35thth minute tested the skills of Joselito Rey when he managed to save the team from getting behind. The supporters of FC Barandillas booed when Reggae Boys was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Roberto Berrueta didn't get a good kick on the ball. Hugo Ribeiro hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 43rd minute, Francesco Tarantini managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Barandillas's supporters rose to their feet, but Francesco Tarantini was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Joselito Rey breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Armand Marant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ovidio Cabrera, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.

In the 55thth minute of the game Dino Fantozzi who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Reggae Boys's Joselito Rey was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Francesco Tarantini couldn't finish the play. Reggae Boys's Joselito Rey played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Francesco Tarantini in the 72nd minute of play. The audience was convinced that Francesco Tarantini's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Joselito Rey was relentless in the 73rd minute of the game. After recieving a nice pass, FC Barandillas's Juan Zaldaña tried to score from far away in the 75th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Reggae Boys's Rafael Rico got a free kick in the 79th minute. After 83 played minutes FC Barandillas got a freekick which was hit by Paulo Renato Valadares. Dino Fantozzi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Joselito Rey tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
