Zelvin Gomez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ramon Barragan, who was totally free with the ball in the 3rd minute. Nelson Ramirez kicked well hit freekick during the 3rd minute of the match. Zelvin Gomez stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ramon Barragan's shot from short distance in the 6th minute. Huddersfield's Claudio Leguizamon got a good chance for a goal in the 7th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Libardo Duarte took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Claudio Leguizamon, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Zelvin Gomez made an important save on a dangerous shot by Milton Bustamante in the 19th minute. Ramon Barragan might have been able to make a better finish in the 28th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Zelvin Gomez. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ramon Barragan ran back to his position shaking his head. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ramon Barragan in the 32nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Zelvin Gomez saved Huddersfield from getting behind. Ramon Barragan was extremely unlucky when he, in the 33rd minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. The Richmond City fans' excitement grew in the 40th match minute when Richmond City's Milton Bustamante looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ramon Barragan made a kick off. If Milton Bustamante had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Angel Bonilla recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 63rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Benji Campos might have been able to make a better finish in the 68th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Zelvin Gomez. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Benji Campos ran back to his position shaking his head. Huddersfield's Zelvin Gomez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Milton Bustamante in the 69th minute of play. Zelvin Gomez didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Milton Bustamante went, in the 70th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-0 was the resulting score. A collision led to Richmond City getting a freekick after 75 minutes play. Milton Bustamante hit a great ball. When Milton Bustamante came up free with the goalie in the 77th minute, the Richmond City fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Milton Bustamante couldn't finish the play. 79 minutes into the match, Huddersfield's goal looked a bit too open when Ramon Barragan came free, but Zelvin Gomez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
