Wellington's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Ricardo Ventura's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Libardo Castaneda read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 25th minute of play. Roberto Ayala struck a weak shot in the 46th minute. Mariano Liborio didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Holmes Chapel United. The Wellington players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Holmes Chapel United were winning 1-2.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Mauricio Padilla was the one to do the kick off. After having played for 79 minutes, Camilo Muñoz managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Wellington's supporters crossed their fingers, but Camilo Muñoz was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The Holmes Chapel United supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Holmes Chapel United would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
