The supporters of Whitby booed when Salcombe AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Primitivo Sifon didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 10 minutes, Richard Moreno managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Whitby's supporters crossed their fingers, but Richard Moreno was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Dennys Velis might have been able to make a better finish in the 15th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Daniel Lara. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Dennys Velis ran back to his position shaking his head. Whitby's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Felipe Aguirrez 18 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-0. After a rather tough play, Salcombe AFC's Félix Villatoro got a free kick in the 30th minute. If Fidel Muñoz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Richard Moreno struck a weak shot in the 34th minute. Hector Murgas didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Whitby. In the 36th minute Felipe Aguirrez shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Daniel Lara saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Felipe Aguirrez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 45 minutes into the game, Richard Moreno cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Hector Murgas was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Felipe Aguirrez to strike the kick off in the second half. The audience thought a goal was coming when Richard Moreno got free with Hector Murgas in the 56th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 59th minute, Richard Moreno left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Whitby fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. Omar Suarez walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. Daniel Lara made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Felipe Aguirrez in the 68th minute of play. In the 70th minute, Fidel Muñoz got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. A hard shot 75 in the game by Richard Moreno from a close distance when the talented Hector Murgas managed to make a qualified save. Salcombe AFC's players were relieved. After 78 played minutes Whitby got a freekick which was hit by Omar Suarez. Félix Villatoro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 79th minute. Daniel Lara tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 83 minutes into the game, Salcombe AFC's Felipe Aguirrez nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Daniel Lara made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-2. Fidel Muñoz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Richard Moreno sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Yasir Ayala hit a great freekick 93 minutes into the match.
