In the 3rd match minute, Upminster AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marcos Gutierrez to maneuver through the defense. If Marvin Barquero had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 4th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 7th minute of the match Alejandro García sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Francisco Paz skillfully saved the ball. In the 9th minute Francisco Galeas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Francisco Paz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Julio Santana had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Wilber Martinez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Adolfo Lovo having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Upminster AFC's Francisco Galeas got a free kick in the 20th minute. Wilber Martinez sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 23rd minute, Marvin Barquero reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Adolfo Lovo. The goal made the score 1-0. Adolfo Lovo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marvin Barquero, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. Roberto Barraza hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. In the 33rd minute Marvin Barquero shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Adolfo Lovo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Diego Asad, 36 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. 38 minutes into the match, Barnard Castle's goal looked a bit too open when Julio Santana came free, but Francisco Paz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Francisco Galeas fell near the penalty area in the 45th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Upminster AFC's protests and gave Francisco Galeas a yellow card for diving instead. After 46 played minutes Upminster AFC got a freekick which was hit by Francisco Galeas. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Wilber Martinez in the 56th minute of play forced Upminster AFC's goalkeeper Adolfo Lovo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Marvin Barquero received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. Adolfo Lovo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some careless play in the Upminster AFC defense, Wilber Martinez kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Adolfo Lovo. The Upminster AFC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Adolfo Lovo should have stopped the shot. 63 minutes into the match, Upminster AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Marvin Barquero came free, but Adolfo Lovo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Andrés Chavez received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Francisco Paz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Wilber Martinez sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 72 minutes of play, Upminster AFC's Julio Santana made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Francisco Paz was left in no man's land by his defense there! The supporters of Upminster AFC booed when Barnard Castle was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jhonnatan Medina didn't get a good kick on the ball. After recieving a nice pass, Upminster AFC's Diego Asad tried to score from far away in the 78th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. 82 minutes had been played when some careless play by Barnard Castle's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Diego Asad was slow to take the kick. During this time Upminster AFC's players had a chance to rest. After taking down the ball on Upminster AFC's corner Diego Asad fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Francisco Paz quite easily take care of the ball. Francisco Galeas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 87th minute. Francisco Paz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Francisco Paz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Francisco Galeas in the 92nd minute of play. 96 minutes into the match, Barnard Castle's goal looked a bit too open when Francisco Galeas came free, but Francisco Paz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 100th minute Wilber Martinez shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Adolfo Lovo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Upminster AFC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
