In the 14th minute the ball was on its way in behind Derry Hill's goalkeeper Erick Corpeño, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Carlos Carranza made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ronald Huezo in the 15th minute of play. Soul´s Anchor Tattoo's Andrés Bonilla got a good chance for a goal in the 16th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ronald Huezo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Carlos Carranza tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Soul´s Anchor Tattoo booed when Derry Hill was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jonathan Gamero didn't get a good kick on the ball. Andrés Bonilla received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Erick Corpeño tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Carlos Carranza made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wilmer Aguirrez in the 37th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Derry Hill's zone, Adolfo Muñoz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Erick Corpeño came out of the goal and Adolfo Muñoz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, Derry Hill's Mario Parada got a free kick in the 43rd minute. In the 44th match minute, Derry Hill was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ronald Huezo to maneuver through the defense. Adolfo Muñoz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Adolfo Muñoz stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After some careless play in the Derry Hill defense, Andrés Bonilla kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Erick Corpeño. The Derry Hill fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Erick Corpeño should have stopped the shot. In the 56th minute Andrés Bonilla shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Erick Corpeño saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Erick Corpeño took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fidel Noyola, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Patricio Ayala fell near the penalty area in the 58th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Derry Hill's protests and gave Patricio Ayala a yellow card for diving instead. In the 58th minute, Patricio Ayala hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Erick Corpeño made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Adolfo Muñoz in the 59th minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Patricio Ayala kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Carlos Carranza. That made the score 2-1 in the 61 minute of play. When Ronald Huezo came up free with the goalie in the 72nd minute, the Derry Hill fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ronald Huezo couldn't finish the play. Andrés Bonilla fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Erick Corpeño having to interfere. In the 76th minute, Juan Guardado hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Giovani Mondragon recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 81st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Soul´s Anchor Tattoo's Giovani Mondragon got a good chance for a goal in the 83rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Giovani Mondragon recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 84th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 88th minute, Andrés Bonilla managed to get in a good position for a shot. Soul´s Anchor Tattoo's supporters rose to their feet, but Andrés Bonilla was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Erick Corpeño breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Erick Corpeño showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Giovani Mondragon, who was totally free with the ball in the 92nd minute. In the 94th minute Soul´s Anchor Tattoo were awarded a corner. Jorge Guerra went to the cornerflag to take it. Joselito Ortiz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 97th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Erick Corpeño having to interfere.
