The audience was convinced that Teodoro Rosabal's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Gilberto Garita was relentless in the 27th minute of the game. Teodoro Rosabal sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Nery Castillo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ignacio Piedra, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ignacio Piedra in the 36th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Nery Castillo saved Herradura from getting behind. Freddy Sanchez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gilberto Garita having to interfere. Freddy Sanchez received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Gilberto Garita tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

After 72 played minutes Herradura got a freekick which was hit by Johan Ulate. Abel Ulloa shot from long distance in the 73rd minute, but Nery Castillo was prepared and stopped the ball at the left post. After a rather tough play, Mal pais AFC's Alberto Pinto got a free kick in the 80th minute. In the 81st minute, Angelin Solera sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Mal pais AFC's Gilberto Garita didn't even have to move. 82 minutes into the match, Darien Lara dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Nery Castillo, 0-1.
