After 16 played minutes Herradura got a freekick which was hit by Franklin Villalobos. After recieving a nice pass, Ojochal's Giovanni Millot tried to score from far away in the 16th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Leon Azofeifa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nery Figueroa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a little luck, Ojochal's Mariano Talamanca got control of the ball when Leopoldo Fallas tried to sneak it across the goal line. 21 minutes into the game, Pablo Blanco was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ojochal's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Herradura the free kick. In the 21st minute, Pablo Blanco hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Omar Padilla in the 27th minute of play forced Herradura's goalkeeper Leon Azofeifa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Leopoldo Fallas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Mariano Talamanca tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Pablo Blanco hit a great freekick 35 minutes into the match. Nery Figueroa's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Leon Azofeifa read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 41st minute of play. After having played for 43 minutes, Nery Figueroa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ojochal's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nery Figueroa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 46th minute Rodolfo Redondo suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. After 46 minutes, Elmer Navarro mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Herradura and the Ojochal players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Herradura getting a freekick after 47 minutes play. Elmer Navarro hit a great ball. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The wind increased when Daniel Acuña made the kick off in the second half. Leon Azofeifa was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Omar Padilla showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-1 in the 52 minute of play. Omar Padilla blasted a shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Leon Azofeifa having to make a save. The crowd rose to their feet as Ojochal's Omar Padilla slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Leon Azofeifa. That made the score 1-2 after 57 minutes of play. Mariano Talamanca showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Leopoldo Fallas, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute. Omar Padilla fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leon Azofeifa having to interfere. Greivin Piedra fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leon Azofeifa having to interfere. Leopoldo Fallas might have been able to make a better finish in the 90th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Mariano Talamanca. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Leopoldo Fallas ran back to his position shaking his head. Leopoldo Fallas blasted a shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Mariano Talamanca having to make a save. In the 95th minute Daniel Acuña shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mariano Talamanca saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The Ojochal supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Ojochal would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
