Spectators: 6811 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1811, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Arsenio Carazo started the match with the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Arsenio Carazo in the 3rd minute of play forced Cartago's goalkeeper Alan Coto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Chunche Palma had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 4th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 7th minute, Chunche Palma fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. With a little luck, Cartago's Alan Coto got control of the ball when Chunche Palma tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 12th minute, Rigoberto Lara made a precise shot to the right of Orlando Jarquin. Puriscal's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. A collision led to Cartago getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Humberto Luna hit a great ball. 17 minutes into the match, Cartago's goalkeeper Alan Coto had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Chunche Palma. When Arsenio Carazo came up free with the goalie in the 19th minute, the Puriscal fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Arsenio Carazo couldn't finish the play. Through an outstanding action, after 21 minutes, Alan Coto successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Arsenio Carazo was extremely unlucky when he, in the 25th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. In the 28th minute, Chunche Palma got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 37th minute, Rigoberto Lara managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cartago's supporters rose to their feet, but Rigoberto Lara was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Orlando Jarquin breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Orlando Jarquin didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Rigoberto Lara went, in the 39th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. If Chunche Palma had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Alan Coto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Arsenio Carazo in the 48th minute of the match. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Rigoberto Lara made the kick off in the second half. Alan Coto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Arsenio Carazo in the 59th minute of the match. In the 61st minute Arsenio Carazo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alan Coto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Alan Coto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arsenio Carazo, who was totally free with the ball in the 66th minute. Hector Parra hit a great freekick 67 minutes into the match. The supporters of Puriscal booed when Cartago was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Humberto Luna didn't get a good kick on the ball. Puriscal's Maikol Pineda couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 71st minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Cartago. In the 72nd minute, Stanley Rivas hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Arsenio Carazo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 75th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Chunche Palma received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Alan Coto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Chunche Palma had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Alan Coto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Arsenio Carazo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 82 played minutes Puriscal got a freekick which was hit by Agustin Ortega. Chunche Palma struck a weak shot in the 85th minute. Alan Coto didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Puriscal. In the 90th minute of the match Maikol Pineda sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Alan Coto skillfully saved the ball. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Cartago walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
