Bernie Villafranca hit a great ball. 25 minutes into the match, Los Chiles's Elvis Heredia broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Turrialba AFC's Macho Parra played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jason Tenorio in the 26th minute of play. If Gonzalo Camacho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 45th minute, Virgilio Pacheco managed to get in a good position for a shot. Turrialba AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Virgilio Pacheco was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Stanley Huertas breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After the first half Los Chiles were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The audience thought a goal was coming when Angel Cantillo got free with Macho Parra in the 75th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Nacho Sirias fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Stanley Huertas having to interfere. Los Chiles's Stanley Huertas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gonzalo Camacho in the 80th minute of play.
