Romulo Jara showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alfonso Campos in the 6th minute of the match. In the 11th minute, Abel Merino fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Kenneth Morales, passed just outside the right post. 15 minutes into the game, one of Heredia:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. When the match had been going on for 16 minutes, Ciudad Quesada's Pablo Rojas got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Kenneth Morales. After a rather tough play, Ciudad Quesada's Jose Sandi got a free kick in the 19th minute. Elmer Rojas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Uriel Parra received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Kenneth Morales tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Henry Mendez during the 25th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After some fancy dribbling in the 46th minute, Alfonso Campos managed to get in a good position for a shot. Heredia's supporters rose to their feet, but Alfonso Campos was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Romulo Jara breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Alfonso Campos was the one to do the kick off. Kenneth Morales was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After 86 played minutes, Heredia's Felix Cisneros shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Romulo Jara came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Heredia reached it. Romulo Jara showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alfonso Campos, who was totally free with the ball in the 88th minute. After having played for 94 minutes, Uriel Parra managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ciudad Quesada's supporters crossed their fingers, but Uriel Parra was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ciudad Quesada were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Heredia for a fine match.
