Palmares AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Perez Zeledon FC the free kick. After 2 played minutes Palmares AFC got a freekick which was hit by Nino Orozco. In the 8th minute, Anibal Ayala ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Bernardo Villareal was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Elmer Lehman recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 12th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Elmer Lehman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Palmares AFC's Elvis Matute got a free kick in the 20th minute. 21 minutes into the match, Palmares AFC's goalkeeper Asdrubal Matos had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Mauricio Rivas. In the 22nd minute, Leo Arias hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 25th minute of the match Vinicio Pinto shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Bernardo Villareal showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 30th minute of the match Elvis Matute shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Bernardo Villareal showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Palmares AFC's Asdrubal Matos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Enrique Gamboa in the 36th minute of play. Bernardo Villareal showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Vinicio Campos in the 38th minute of the match. In the 40th minute, Vinicio Campos left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Palmares AFC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. 44 minutes into the match, Palmares AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Enrique Gamboa came free, but Asdrubal Matos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. During the 45th minute of the match Nino Orozco completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Nino Orozco a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Enrique Gamboa stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 51st match minute, Perez Zeledon FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Asdrubal Zamora to maneuver through the defense. The audience was convinced that Elmer Lehman's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Asdrubal Matos was relentless in the 55th minute of the game. In the 57th minute Enrique Gamboa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Asdrubal Matos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Enrique Gamboa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Asdrubal Matos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 71 minutes into the match, Enrique Gamboa notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of Palmares AFC's Asdrubal Matos. Asdrubal Matos was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Anibal Ayala fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bernardo Villareal having to interfere. 79 minutes into the match, Palmares AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Enrique Gamboa came free, but Asdrubal Matos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 81 minutes, Vinicio Campos mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Palmares AFC and the Perez Zeledon FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Asdrubal Matos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Enrique Gamboa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Perez Zeledon FC's Asdrubal Zamora got a free kick in the 83rd minute. In the 86th minute, Asdrubal Zamora hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Anibal Ayala came up free with the goalie in the 88th minute, the Palmares AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Anibal Ayala couldn't finish the play. Elmer Lehman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Asdrubal Matos having to interfere. Asdrubal Matos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Elmer Lehman in the 95th minute of the match. The Perez Zeledon FC supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Palmares AFC's performance. The match ended with a win for Palmares AFC.
