But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Anibal Ayala couldn't finish the play. After 17 minutes, Virgilio Madriz mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Palmares AFC and the Grecia AFC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 17 played minutes Palmares AFC got a freekick which was hit by Virgilio Madriz. Nestor Duran made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vinicio Campos in the 26th minute of play. 27 minutes into the match, Palmares AFC's Vinicio Campos sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Nestor Duran narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 30 minutes into the match, Darien Amador had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Asdrubal Matos. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Nestor Duran prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 65th minute, Darien Amador got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
