In the 11th match minute, Arenal was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luis Sanchez to maneuver through the defense. When the match had gone on for 30 minutes, Marco Ugalde put it in 1-0 from a short distance just to the right of Francisco Arnaez. In the 36thth minute of the game Marco Ugalde who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Arenal's Francisco Arnaez was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Carlos Blen during the 43rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Club Sport Cartaginés's Carlos Blen got a free kick in the 44th minute. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Tito Hidalgo to make the kick off. The supporters of Club Sport Cartaginés booed when Arenal was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Andres Aguilar didn't get a good kick on the ball. Marco Ugalde took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 53rd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Francisco Arnaez. Arenal's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Club Sport Cartaginés's Warner Mondragon played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Leo Castillo in the 56th minute of play. Edwin Robles struck a weak shot in the 58th minute. Francisco Arnaez didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Club Sport Cartaginés. Leo Quesada kicked well hit freekick during the 61st minute of the match. In the 63rd minute, Virgilio Arias got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 64th minute, Miguel Blanco managed to get in a good position for a shot. Club Sport Cartaginés's supporters rose to their feet, but Miguel Blanco was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Francisco Arnaez breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 67 minutes into the match, Arenal's goal looked a bit too open when Edwin Robles came free, but Francisco Arnaez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 80 minutes, Marco Ugalde managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Club Sport Cartaginés's supporters crossed their fingers, but Marco Ugalde was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Edwin Robles had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Marco Ugalde fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Francisco Arnaez having to interfere. Bryan Carballo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 86th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 91 minutes into the game, Edwin Robles cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Francisco Arnaez was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 95th minute of the match Andres Aguilar sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Warner Mondragon skillfully saved the ball. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Club Sport Cartaginés had played much better football throughout.
