In the 32nd minute, Anselmo Badilla hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 33 played minutes Guacimo got a freekick which was hit by Virgilio Jimenez. Emilio Burgos was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 34th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Alexander Saborio. In the 37th minute, Adrian Acuña made a precise shot to the right of Tito Hernandez. Platanillo AFC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Franklin Parra to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Guacimo's goalkeeper Emilio Burgos, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Donald Arce was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 54 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 61st minute, Julio Guzman managed to get in a good position for a shot. Guacimo's supporters rose to their feet, but Julio Guzman was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tito Hernandez breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Julio Guzman received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 80th minute. Tito Hernandez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Martin Talamanca fell near the penalty area in the 81st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick.
