When Chico Centeno came up free with the goalie in the 15th minute, the Club Sport Cartagines fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Chico Centeno couldn't finish the play. 19 minutes into the match, Emiliano Calvo had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Agustin Perez. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Efrain Gamboa prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Municipal Paquera's supporters rose to their feet, but Warner Aguilar was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Efrain Gamboa breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Salvador Azofeifa made a kick off. In the 53rd minute Emiliano Calvo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Agustin Perez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
