In the 13th minute, Willy Wanchope made a precise shot to the right of Salomon Hurtado. Tilaran's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. Leopoldo Sirias's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Julio Chinchilla read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 19th minute of play. Pancho Arnaez's late challenge caught a CD Pura Vida's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Pancho Arnaez helped the player get up and apologised. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Leopoldo Sirias in the 33rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Chinchilla prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Reynaldo Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Chinchilla having to interfere. If Humberto Cordoba had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tilaran's Salomon Hurtado proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 42nd minute of the match, managed to save Tilaran from getting a goal against them. Salomon Hurtado showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Humberto Cordoba, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. Tilaran's Reynaldo Sancho got a good chance for a goal in the 81st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Leopoldo Sirias struck a weak shot in the 82nd minute. Julio Chinchilla didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Tilaran. Julio Chinchilla took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Reynaldo Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. CD Pura Vida's Julio Chinchilla proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 94th minute of the match, managed to save CD Pura Vida from getting a goal against them. In the 96th minute, Johnny Acuña got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Tilaran walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
