But to his dismay, Stu Higgins quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Gerardo Heredia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ollie Sharples having to interfere. In the 15th minute, Oldemar Duarte ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ollie Sharples was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. In the 19th minute Dominic Blake shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eric Mena saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 23 minutes into the match, East Cowes AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Oldemar Duarte came free, but Ollie Sharples reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 24 minutes, Stu Higgins mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the East Cowes AFC and the Club Nacional de Football players grew even worse after the yellow card. Stu Higgins kicked well hit freekick during the 24th minute of the match. Oldemar Duarte was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 29th minute. Club Nacional de Football's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gerardo Heredia got free with Ollie Sharples in the 31st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Oldemar Duarte fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ollie Sharples having to interfere. 36 minutes into the match, Gerardo Heredia notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of East Cowes AFC's Ollie Sharples. Ollie Sharples was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. An unexpected shot in the 44th minute by Fabio Gaitan got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. In the 45th minute Oldemar Duarte shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ollie Sharples saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Club Nacional de Football's Eric Mena played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Johnathan Moyse in the 47th minute of play. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Johnathan Moyse stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, Dominic Blake had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Eric Mena. Club Nacional de Football's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Dominic Blake was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-2. Oldemar Duarte sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gerardo Heredia took the ball and in the 61 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Ollie Sharples. Ollie Sharples dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-2. If Dominic Blake had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Dominic Blake received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Eric Mena tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 71st minute Oldemar Duarte shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ollie Sharples saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Oldemar Duarte's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ollie Sharples read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 78th minute of play. Dominic Blake charged in rather forcefully in the 80th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Dominic Blake the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Dominic Blake hit a great freekick 80 minutes into the match. Ollie Sharples showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fabio Gaitan, who was totally free with the ball in the 83rd minute. Ollie Sharples took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gerardo Heredia, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 88 minutes into the match, Club Nacional de Football's goal looked a bit too open when Johnathan Moyse came free, but Eric Mena reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Club Nacional de Football's Gerardo Heredia got a good chance for a goal in the 89th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Eric Mena made an important save on a dangerous shot by Dominic Blake in the 94th minute. Oldemar Duarte struck a weak shot in the 96th minute. Ollie Sharples didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Club Nacional de Football. East Cowes AFC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
