Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Teobald Podwojski started the match with the kick off. The supporters of Perez Zeledon FC booed when Sport Herediano Frances was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vicente Ruiz didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Sport Herediano Frances's zone, Clodomiro Guillen stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Antonio Merino came out of the goal and Clodomiro Guillen tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Mario Mejias hit a great freekick 8 minutes into the match. Elvis Ramirez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Teobald Podwojski, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 11 played minutes Sport Herediano Frances got a freekick which was hit by Rigoberto Mata. Rigoberto Mata hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. After 19th play minutes Teobald Podwojski shot 1-1, a short shot which went by Elvis Ramirez and just under the crossbar into goal. After 37 played minutes Perez Zeledon FC got a freekick which was hit by Teodoro Talamanca. Elvis Ramirez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Teobald Podwojski in the 40th minute of play. With a little luck, Sport Herediano Frances's Antonio Merino got control of the ball when Mario Mejias tried to sneak it across the goal line. Teodoro Talamanca received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Antonio Merino tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Teodoro Talamanca made the kick off in the second half. Elvis Ramirez was a little too slow when Teobald Podwojski got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 51st minute. The score was now 1-3. After 55 played minutes Teobald Podwojski rounded Perez Zeledon FC's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-4. 61 minutes into the game, Celso Sanchez cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-4. Antonio Merino was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 68 minutes into the game, Mario Mejias cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-4. Antonio Merino was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 73rd minute, Teobald Podwojski ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Elvis Ramirez was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-5. In the 85th minute, Sport Herediano Frances's Teobald Podwojski dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 3-6. In the 90th minute, Oscar Leiton hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 92nd minute, Teobald Podwojski left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Sport Herediano Frances fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-7. Teobald Podwojski who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 95thth minute tested the skills of Elvis Ramirez when he managed to save the team from getting behind.
