The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Eric Mena showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. 1-1 became the score in the 12th minute when Gerardo Heredia elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. 15 minutes into the match, Club Nacional de Football's goal looked a bit too open when Alvin Matute came free, but Eric Mena reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 17th minute, Oldemar Duarte got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 22nd minute, Elias Martinez managed to get in a good position for a shot. El Bicho F.C's supporters rose to their feet, but Elias Martinez was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Eric Mena breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Oldemar Duarte fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Elmer Alfaro having to interfere. After 25 played minutes El Bicho F.C got a freekick which was hit by Alvin Matute. Oldemar Duarte sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 32 minutes into the game, Ricardo Garro was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. El Bicho F.C's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Club Nacional de Football the free kick. The supporters of Club Nacional de Football booed when El Bicho F.C was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ricardo Garro didn't get a good kick on the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Club Nacional de Football's Gerardo Heredia slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Elmer Alfaro. That made the score 2-1 after 40 minutes of play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Gerardo Heredia made the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mikael Cubero in the 52nd minute of play forced El Bicho F.C's goalkeeper Elmer Alfaro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 54th minute Gerardo Heredia shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Elmer Alfaro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gerardo Heredia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Elmer Alfaro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 58th minute, Mikael Cubero hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Club Nacional de Football's Eric Mena played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alvin Matute in the 64th minute of play. Club Nacional de Football were furious when Rex Pineda was red carded, 67 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. After 67 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Club Nacional de Football! In the 70th minute there was a penalty for El Bicho F.C. Wilmer Santamaria stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Eric Mena. 2-2. Alvin Matute's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 75thth minute, Eric Mena skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. When Mikael Cubero came up free with the goalie in the 80th minute, the Club Nacional de Football fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mikael Cubero couldn't finish the play. In the 82nd minute Alvin Matute shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eric Mena saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Elmer Alfaro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Oldemar Duarte in the 94th minute of play. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
