But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Marquez Garizabal couldn't finish the play. Birger Engelborgh showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rosio Cimbron, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. 1-1 became the score in the 35th minute when Jacobo Garviras elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Jacobo Garviras received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Club Deportivo ATE's Baudelio Caravantes proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 46th minute of the match, managed to save Club Deportivo ATE from getting a goal against them. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.
