In the 33rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Universitario FC's goalkeeper Ambrosio Marentos, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Mario Pintado had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 36th minute the ball was on its way in behind Miguel Grau's goalkeeper Efren Velis, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 37th minute, Jenaro Gili hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Cruz Ochandiano who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 45thth minute tested the skills of Efren Velis when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Cruz Ochandiano recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 48th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Beremundo Maceira stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Mario Pintado might have been able to make a better finish in the 53rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Efren Velis. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Mario Pintado ran back to his position shaking his head. If Cruz Ochandiano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mario Pintado in the 59th minute of play forced Miguel Grau's goalkeeper Efren Velis to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ambrosio Marentos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Beremundo Maceira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in Miguel Grau's zone, Cruz Ochandiano stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Efren Velis came out of the goal and Cruz Ochandiano tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Efren Velis showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mario Pintado in the 67th minute of the match. Mario Pintado recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 69th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When the match had gone on for 72 minutes, Cruz Ochandiano put it in 1-1 from a short distance just to the right of Efren Velis. Miguel Grau's Efren Velis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cruz Ochandiano in the 76th minute of play. Universitario FC's Cruz Ochandiano got a good chance for a goal in the 82nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Cruz Ochandiano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 85 minutes into the game, Jenaro Gili was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Miguel Grau's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Universitario FC the free kick. In the 85th match minute, Miguel Grau was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jenaro Gili to maneuver through the defense. Universitario FC's Xulio Tamajon couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Universitario FC players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
