Marciano Ruete started the match with the kick off. Havier Valcuende took the ball and in the 3 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Bonifaco Toraño. Bonifaco Toraño dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. In the 7thth minute of the game Marciano Ruete who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Alianza Lima's Playo Cavero was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If Demario Beguellina had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Hungurahue FC's Eliazar Logares got a free kick in the 22nd minute. After 23 played minutes, Alianza Lima's Oihenarte Aceituno shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Bonifaco Toraño came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Alianza Lima reached it. Hungurahue FC's Bonifaco Toraño proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 27th minute of the match, managed to save Hungurahue FC from getting a goal against them. Demario Beguellina hit a great freekick 35 minutes into the match. After 36 played minutes, Alianza Lima's Sergi Moxi shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Bonifaco Toraño came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Alianza Lima reached it. Austin Bebias sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Alianza Lima booed when Hungurahue FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eliazar Logares didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 45th minute, Havier Valcuende got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

After a defensive mix-up in Alianza Lima's zone, Demario Beguellina stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Playo Cavero came out of the goal and Demario Beguellina tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Demario Beguellina fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Playo Cavero having to interfere. After 60 played minutes Alianza Lima got a freekick which was hit by Pasqual Lloves. Bonifaco Toraño showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Havier Valcuende in the 67th minute of the match. Playo Cavero took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marciano Ruete, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 69 minutes of play, Hungurahue FC's Demario Beguellina made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Playo Cavero was left in no man's land by his defense there! Austin Bebias sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Havier Valcuende came up free with the goalie in the 84th minute, the Alianza Lima fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Havier Valcuende couldn't finish the play. After some fancy dribbling in the 89th minute, Demario Beguellina managed to get in a good position for a shot. Hungurahue FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Demario Beguellina was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Playo Cavero breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Playo Cavero stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Marciano Ruete's shot from short distance in the 92nd minute. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
