An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Ingueros in the 9th minute of play forced Lucas FBC's goalkeeper Joaquim Besosa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Vermudo Marques showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Haimar Rionda, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. After 12 played minutes Guayaquil FC got a freekick which was hit by Geleberto Mendosa. Joaquim Besosa stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jobo Requena's shot from short distance in the 15th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Haimar Rionda in the 16th minute of play forced Guayaquil FC's goalkeeper Vermudo Marques to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Eudoxio Carral received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Vermudo Marques tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Cristian Ingueros came up free with the goalie in the 20th minute, the Guayaquil FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cristian Ingueros couldn't finish the play. Jobo Requena sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After a defensive mix-up in Lucas FBC's zone, Cristian Ingueros stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Joaquim Besosa came out of the goal and Cristian Ingueros tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 24th minute Cristian Ingueros shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joaquim Besosa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 31st minute, Cristian Ingueros ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Joaquim Besosa was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. 34 minutes into the match, Lucas FBC's goal looked a bit too open when Geleberto Mendosa came free, but Joaquim Besosa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jobo Requena in the 37th minute of play forced Lucas FBC's goalkeeper Joaquim Besosa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 39th minute, Cristian Ingueros managed to get in a good position for a shot. Guayaquil FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Cristian Ingueros was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Joaquim Besosa breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Jobo Requena fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joaquim Besosa having to interfere. If Cristian Ingueros had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After the first half Guayaquil FC were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jobo Requena to make the kick off. After 53 played minutes Lucas FBC got a freekick which was hit by Aloisio Elejalde. In the 53rd minute of the match Roberto Lambriabe shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Joaquim Besosa showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Haimar Rionda in the 61st minute of play forced Guayaquil FC's goalkeeper Vermudo Marques to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the match had gone on for 71 minutes, Jobo Requena took a quick shot and it went in 0-3 without a chance for Joaquim Besosa to make any attempt to save it. In the 75th match minute, Guayaquil FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cristian Ingueros to maneuver through the defense. In the 81st minute Eudoxio Carral shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vermudo Marques saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpected shot in the 88th minute by Cristian Ingueros got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Joaquim Besosa was out of position in the 89 minute of play, and Jobo Requena capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Jobo Requena really showed his touch with that goal: 0-4. Jobo Requena recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 93rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Joaquim Besosa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jobo Requena, who was totally free with the ball in the 95th minute. Guayaquil FC played a much better game than Lucas FBC and deserved their victory. The Lucas FBC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
