In the 11th minute Evaristo Castañiza shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vermudo Marques saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Jobo Requena had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Evaristo Castañiza in the 15th minute of play forced Guayaquil FC's goalkeeper Vermudo Marques to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Pablo Cabalar hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. Jobo Requena received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Eufrasio Regil tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 22nd minute Lidon Ali shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eufrasio Regil saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Bakar Clavo fell near the penalty area in the 29th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Guayaquil FC's protests and gave Bakar Clavo a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Quishuarpata booed when Guayaquil FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bakar Clavo didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Quishuarpata getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Ferrando Mussoll hit a great ball. In the 35th match minute, Guayaquil FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lidon Ali to maneuver through the defense. If Jobo Requena had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After having played for 38 minutes, Bakar Clavo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Guayaquil FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bakar Clavo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jobo Requena got free with Eufrasio Regil in the 42nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 43 minutes in the game, Bakar Clavo fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Eufrasio Regil having to interfere. In the 44th minute, Quishuarpata's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Jobo Requena fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. With a little luck, Quishuarpata's Eufrasio Regil got control of the ball when Jobo Requena tried to sneak it across the goal line. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Guayaquil FC's Bakar Clavo got a good chance for a goal in the 53rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Nicholas Maixenchs sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ordono Vilardell during the 59th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 60 played minutes Quishuarpata got a freekick which was hit by Ordono Vilardell. 62 minutes into the match, Quishuarpata's goal looked a bit too open when Jobo Requena came free, but Eufrasio Regil reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Lidon Ali had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jobo Requena sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Quishuarpata's Eufrasio Regil played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jobo Requena in the 70th minute of play. Bakar Clavo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 71st minute. Eufrasio Regil tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jobo Requena fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eufrasio Regil having to interfere. In the 74th minute, Bakar Clavo made a precise shot to the right of Eufrasio Regil. Quishuarpata's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. If Jobo Requena had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jobo Requena took the ball and in the 84 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Eufrasio Regil. Eufrasio Regil dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. 88 minutes into the match, Evaristo Castañiza had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Vermudo Marques. Guayaquil FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Evaristo Castañiza was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. In the 93rd minute Ted Ubago shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vermudo Marques saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jobo Requena sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Guayaquil FC fully deserved thier win.
