Llorenc Zamudio came out of the goal and Jobo Requena tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 51 played minutes Guayaquil FC got a freekick which was hit by Melquiades Mancobo. Guayaquil FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Feliberto Alacan was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. Llorenc Zamudio showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lidon Ali, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute. Lidon Ali recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 63rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 69th minute, Feliberto Alacan left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Once Estrellas FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. The supporters of Once Estrellas FC booed when Guayaquil FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 74 match minutes in a wonderful position. Elizardo Guedella didn't get a good kick on the ball. Guayaquil FC's Vermudo Marques played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Feliberto Alacan in the 76th minute of play. In the 95th minute Melquiades Mancobo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Llorenc Zamudio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Llorenc Zamudio was out of position in the 96 minute of play, and Lidon Ali capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Lidon Ali really showed his touch with that goal: 2-3. Guayaquil FC's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
