When Saturnino Umaña fell near the penalty area in the 4th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Novs FC's protests and gave Saturnino Umaña a yellow card for diving instead. After 4 played minutes Novs FC got a freekick which was hit by Saturnino Umaña. A collision led to UD Maracaibo getting a freekick after 6 minutes play. Jaime Lavet hit a great ball. 12 minutes into the game, Damaso Lanis cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Niolaao Rapado was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cerilo Ajorbe in the 16th minute of play forced Novs FC's goalkeeper Ludovic Malo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Sandaili Arzube thought of kicking away a contribution in front of goal but messed it up so badly that the ball went to the right of an astonished Niolaao Rapado, a very annoying self made goal in the 20th minute which led to 0-2. Damaso Lanis recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 32nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 35th match minute, UD Maracaibo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Teodoro Aragones to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 37th minute, Vito Hesa managed to get in a good position for a shot. Novs FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Vito Hesa was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Niolaao Rapado breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Mon Cantillo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 39th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 45th minute Damaso Lanis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Niolaao Rapado saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ludovic Malo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Xever Castiñeira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 47th minute Xever Castiñeira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ludovic Malo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Mon Cantillo was the one to do the kick off. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-4 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Mon Cantillo struck a weak shot in the 58th minute. Niolaao Rapado didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Novs FC. Mon Cantillo received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Niolaao Rapado came out and tried to block the shot, but Mon Cantillo slotted it home off the left post making it 0-5 in the 62nd minute. In the 65th minute, Mon Cantillo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. UD Maracaibo's Niolaao Rapado played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mon Cantillo in the 74th minute of play. Niolaao Rapado showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Damaso Lanis, who was totally free with the ball in the 77th minute. In the 77th minute, Jaime Lavet hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Mon Cantillo's late challenge caught a UD Maracaibo's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Mon Cantillo helped the player get up and apologised. Mon Cantillo kicked well hit freekick during the 84th minute of the match. With 87 minutes on the clock, Saturnino Umaña commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. In a very dangerous position, a player in Novs FC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 86th minute. Penalty! The referee gave UD Maracaibo a penalty, 88 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Xever Castiñeira, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Novs FC's Ludovic Malo. 1-5. In the 94th minute Xever Castiñeira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ludovic Malo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Novs FC's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
