Ratko Glavak was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 18 minutes into the match, Flavio Maestri notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of UPAO's Carlos Candia. Carlos Candia was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Flavio Maestri in the 21st minute of play forced UPAO's goalkeeper Carlos Candia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ratko Glavak showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ladislao Orixe in the 22nd minute of the match. When Flavio Maestri came up free with the goalie in the 29th minute, the Deportivo Municipal fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Flavio Maestri couldn't finish the play. In the 43rd match minute, Deportivo Municipal was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Guib Gordejuela to maneuver through the defense. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Bartoli Olazaran during the 46th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. UPAO's Narciso Camargo couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 47th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Deportivo Municipal. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

With an extended leg and a bit of luck Carlos Candia prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 80 minutes of play Deportivo Municipal's Bartoli Olazaran was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. Bartoli Olazaran kicked well hit freekick during the 81st minute of the match. Ratko Glavak took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ladislao Orixe, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 89 minutes into the match, UPAO's goalkeeper Carlos Candia had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Flavio Maestri.
