After 6 played minutes Mañanitas got a freekick which was hit by Carlos Amaya. After 7 minutes, Orlando Navarro made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. Mañanitas's Andrés Centella tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Martín Quirós recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 14th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 17thth minute of the game Martín Quirós who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Cerro Punta's Victor Henriguez was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If Enrique Escobar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Cerro Punta's zone, Martín Quirós stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Victor Henriguez came out of the goal and Martín Quirós tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, Cerro Punta's Luchito Cedeño got a free kick in the 23rd minute. Victor Henriguez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Martín Quirós, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. 29 minutes into the game, Wiliam Ortiz was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Cerro Punta's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Mañanitas the free kick. Martín Quirós struck a weak shot in the 34th minute. Victor Henriguez didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mañanitas. Victor Henriguez stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Martín Quirós's shot from short distance in the 36th minute. Andrés Centella showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Max Corral in the 41st minute of the match. Andrés Centella took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Orlando Navarro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Javier Agurto hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

In the 54th minute, Luchito Cedeño left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Cerro Punta fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. Martín Quirós fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Victor Henriguez having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 64th minute, Orlando Navarro managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cerro Punta's supporters rose to their feet, but Orlando Navarro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Andrés Centella breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Victor Henriguez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Martín Quirós in the 66th minute of play. If Max Corral had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Martín Quirós received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Victor Henriguez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Max Corral could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 78th minute of the match, but Andrés Centella made a huge save. If Orlando Navarro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 83rd match minute, Cerro Punta was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Juan Ramirez to maneuver through the defense. Victor Henriguez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Martín Quirós in the 84th minute of play. When Max Corral came up free with the goalie in the 87th minute, the Cerro Punta fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Max Corral couldn't finish the play. The Mañanitas supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Cerro Punta's performance. The match ended with a win for Cerro Punta.
