Reinaldo Murillo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 4th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without David Ramirez having to interfere. 7 minutes into the match, El Cortezo's goalkeeper Jorge Gutierrez had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Luis González. Rolando Herrera's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jorge Gutierrez read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 8th minute of play. In the 9th minute, Luis González got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Lucho Caballero sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jorge Gutierrez made an important save on a dangerous shot by Rolando Herrera in the 17th minute. 23 minutes into the match, Guabito F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Lucho Caballero came free, but David Ramirez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 25th minute Lucho Caballero shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but David Ramirez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. David Ramirez stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Reinaldo Murillo's shot from short distance in the 26th minute. After a rather tough play, El Cortezo's Luis Zambrano got a free kick in the 28th minute. When Rolando Herrera came up free with the goalie in the 35th minute, the Guabito F.C. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rolando Herrera couldn't finish the play. 36 minutes into the match, El Cortezo's goal looked a bit too open when Rolando Herrera came free, but Jorge Gutierrez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Luis González came up free with the goalie in the 38th minute, the Guabito F.C. fans jumped to their feet. In the 44th minute, Rolando Herrera got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Reinaldo Murillo to make the kick off. After having played for 51 minutes, Reinaldo Murillo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. El Cortezo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Reinaldo Murillo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 54th minute, Alexander Pimentel made a precise shot to the right of David Ramirez. Guabito F.C.'s defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. After some fancy dribbling in the 58th minute, Luis González managed to get in a good position for a shot. Guabito F.C.'s supporters rose to their feet, but Luis González was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jorge Gutierrez breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Luis González had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After a rather tough play, Guabito F.C.'s Rolando Herrera got a free kick in the 63rd minute. In the 65th minute, Lucho Caballero got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. With his leg David Ramirez managed to avoid a goal in the 67thth minute, when El Cortezo's Lucho Caballero fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. A collision led to El Cortezo getting a freekick after 68 minutes play. Edgardo Gutierrez hit a great ball. After 70 played minutes, Guabito F.C.'s Manuel Fernandez shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Jorge Gutierrez came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Guabito F.C. reached it. In the 71st minute, Luis González got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Jorge Gutierrez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rolando Herrera, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Rolando Herrera in the 76th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jorge Gutierrez prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After having played for 80 minutes, Reinaldo Murillo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. El Cortezo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Reinaldo Murillo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Reinaldo Murillo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 88th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. El Cortezo's Jorge Gutierrez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rolando Herrera in the 91st minute of play. A collision led to El Cortezo getting a freekick after 93 minutes play. Luis Zambrano hit a great ball. After having played for 94 minutes, Luis González managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Guabito F.C.'s supporters crossed their fingers, but Luis González was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
