After 18 played minutes, Panama City – Capital's Martín De Leon shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Marcos Mendieta came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Panama City – Capital reached it. Marcos Mendieta made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Carlos Herbruger in the 20th minute of play. Juan Lao might have been able to make a better finish in the 22nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Fernando Quiros. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Juan Lao ran back to his position shaking his head. Göran Lindholm struck a weak shot in the 24th minute. Fernando Quiros didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Club Atlético Pixbae. After a defensive mix-up in Panama City – Capital's zone, Juan Lao stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Fernando Quiros came out of the goal and Juan Lao tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Vali Dominte sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 32 minutes into the game, Vali Dominte cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Fernando Quiros was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After 36 played minutes Club Atlético Pixbae got a freekick which was hit by Reggie Ramos. In the 37th minute of the match Hector Alfaro shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Marcos Mendieta showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Hector Alfaro hit a great freekick 37 minutes into the match. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
