The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Azael Palma made an important save on a dangerous shot by Wilfredo Peren in the 4th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 26th minute, Wilfredo Peren managed to get in a good position for a shot. Nuevo San Juan's supporters rose to their feet, but Wilfredo Peren was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Azael Palma breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 28 minutes into the match, Wilfredo Peren had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Azael Palma. Potrero Grande F.C.'s manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Wilfredo Peren was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Sergio Peren stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Potrero Grande F.C. booed when Nuevo San Juan was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pedro Tello didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gilberto Agurto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sergio Peren in the 72nd minute of the match. Fernando Toledano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. Gilberto Agurto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 79 minutes in the game, Fernando Toledano fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Gilberto Agurto having to interfere. Fernando Toledanos short, quick shot in the 84thth minute got Gilberto Agurto to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Luchito Pimentel hit a great freekick 85 minutes into the match. If Sergio Peren had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the match was over Potrero Grande F.C. could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Nuevo San Juan throughout the match.
