The audience thought a goal was coming when Emanuel Peren got free with Luchito Paredes in the 27th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Luchito Paredes made a fantastic save in the 29th minute, when Emanuel Peren sent off a good shot on target. In the 30th minute, Jose Batista hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Pablo Cedeño in the 33rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Luchito Paredes saved What F.C. from getting behind. Pablo Cedeño blasted a shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Luchito Paredes having to make a save. 40 minutes into the game, Mata Del Nance's Emanuel Peren nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Luchito Paredes made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. Juan Morris might have been able to make a better finish in the 43rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Fernando Ríos. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Juan Morris ran back to his position shaking his head. The supporters of What F.C. booed when Mata Del Nance was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Javier Muñoz didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Juan Morris was the one to do the kick off. In the 51st minute, Juan Moscoso got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 78th minute the ball was on its way in behind Mata Del Nance's goalkeeper Fernando Ríos, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 78 played minutes Mata Del Nance got a freekick which was hit by Fabio Alfaro. When Pablo Cedeño came up free with the goalie in the 91st minute, the Mata Del Nance fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Pablo Cedeño couldn't finish the play. The What F.C. players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
