When Américo De Gracia came up free with the goalie in the 5th minute, the Penonomé F.C. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Américo De Gracia couldn't finish the play. Calito Gomez hit a great freekick 6 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cheito Caballero in the 9th minute of play forced Ustupo F.C.'s goalkeeper Jaime Vergara to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 11thth minute of the game Cheito Caballero who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ustupo F.C.'s Jaime Vergara was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If Américo De Gracia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 18 played minutes Penonomé F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Gilberto Rios. Gustavo Fernandez stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Juan Pinilla 's shot from short distance in the 19th minute. After a rather tough play, Ustupo F.C.'s Rolando Lao got a free kick in the 30th minute. In the 33rd minute Penonomé F.C. were awarded a corner. Tomás Bultrón went to the cornerflag to take it. A nice corner shot did that Tomás Bultrón got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Jaime Vergara quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. After a defensive mix-up in Penonomé F.C.'s zone, Juan Pinilla stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gustavo Fernandez came out of the goal and Juan Pinilla tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Juan Pinilla in the 39th minute of play forced Penonomé F.C.'s goalkeeper Gustavo Fernandez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Ustupo F.C. booed when Penonomé F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tomás Bultrón didn't get a good kick on the ball. Wiliam Trejos fired away a difficult shot at goal in the 42nd minute. He almost succeeded, but the ball bounced in the crossbar and then went out. It was a very nice shot. After 46 minutes, Javier González mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ustupo F.C. and the Penonomé F.C. players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Ustupo F.C.'s Javier González got a free kick in the 46th minute. Américo De Gracia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Jaime Vergara tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The wind increased when Cheito Caballero made the kick off in the second half. Gustavo Fernandez showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gustavo Centella in the 52nd minute of the match. If Juan Pinilla had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Penonomé F.C. getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Heraclides Urane hit a great ball. 56 minutes into the match, Penonomé F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Juan Pinilla came free, but Gustavo Fernandez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Américo De Gracia got free with Jaime Vergara in the 59th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 61 minutes Ustupo F.C.'s defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Tomás Bultrón who took care of the corner kick. Gustavo Centella sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 68th minute, Gustavo Centella managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ustupo F.C.'s supporters rose to their feet, but Gustavo Centella was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gustavo Fernandez breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 71 minutes of play, Ustupo F.C.'s Juan Pinilla made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Gustavo Fernandez was left in no man's land by his defense there! If Américo De Gracia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cheito Caballero fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jaime Vergara having to interfere. Jaime Vergara showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cheito Caballero in the 80th minute of the match. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 81st minute of the game. One of Ustupo F.C.:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Penonomé F.C.:s goal. When the match had been going on for 82 minutes, Penonomé F.C.'s Tomás Bultrón got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Jaime Vergara. Ustupo F.C.'s Jaime Vergara proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 90th minute of the match, managed to save Ustupo F.C. from getting a goal against them. Jaime Vergara stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Cheito Caballero's shot from short distance in the 95th minute. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
