The audience was convinced that Joe Perez's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Gustavo Fernandez was relentless in the 9th minute of the game. When the match had been going on for 19 minutes, E S T R I B I's Pablo Henriguez got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Gustavo Fernandez. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 55 minutes into the match, Joe Perez had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Gustavo Fernandez. Penonomé F.C.'s manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Joe Perez was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. When the match clock showed 59 minutes, the score became 3-1 when Joe Perez sped through Penonomé F.C.'s defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Gustavo Fernandez. E S T R I B I's Tomás Ortega was substituted for Toto Ulloa. E S T R I B I's Reinaldo Ríos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cheito Caballero in the 69th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Joe Perez in the 74th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Gustavo Fernandez saved Penonomé F.C. from getting behind. In a very dangerous position, a player in E S T R I B I fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 76th minute. Penalty! Tomás Bultrón walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. After 84 minutes, Tomás Ortega made it 5-1 with a short kick to the right side. Penonomé F.C.'s Gustavo Fernandez tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. E S T R I B I's Pablo Henriguez got a good chance for a goal in the 89th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Reinaldo Ríos made a fantastic save in the 93rd minute, when Américo De Gracia sent off a good shot on target. E S T R I B I's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
