Alex Arias in the 19thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Mario Smith, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. In the 29th minute, San Miguelito's Tomás Barrera ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Mario Smith. Mario Smith yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. 39 minutes into the match, Nueva Gorgona F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Tomás Barrera came free, but Mario Smith reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In a very dangerous position, a player in Nueva Gorgona F.C. fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 40th minute. Penalty! After some fancy dribbling in the 47th minute, Wiliam Muñoz managed to get in a good position for a shot. Nueva Gorgona F.C.'s supporters rose to their feet, but Wiliam Muñoz was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rafael Osorio breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Tomás Barrera to strike the kick off in the second half. Franklin Ramirez hit a great freekick 51 minutes into the match. If Alex Arias had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ulpiano Garcia hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. In the 57th minute of the match Giancarlo Cedeño sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Mario Smith skillfully saved the ball. In the 61st minute Alex Arias shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mario Smith saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 93rd minute of the match José Bultrón shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Mario Smith showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. For all the effort they put into the match, the Nueva Gorgona F.C. players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for San Miguelito.
