Monchi Arauz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luchito Gomez in the 7th minute of the match. In the 9th minute, C.A. INDEPENDIENTE's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Tomaso Castillero fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. C.A. INDEPENDIENTE's Luchito Herrera got a good chance for a goal in the 16th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 20th minute Luis Oberto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alberto Vergara saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in C.A. INDEPENDIENTE's zone, Luchito Gomez stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Monchi Arauz came out of the goal and Luchito Gomez tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. C.A. INDEPENDIENTE's Nicolás Gómez got a good chance for a goal in the 31st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Tomaso Castillero blasted a shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Monchi Arauz having to make a save. When the match had gone on for 35 minutes, Tomaso Castillero put it in 1-0 from a short distance just to the right of Monchi Arauz. Tomaso Castillero who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 38thth minute tested the skills of Monchi Arauz when he managed to save the team from getting behind. 41 minutes into the match, María Chiquita's goal looked a bit too open when Nicolás Gómez came free, but Alberto Vergara reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Alberto Vergara took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nicolás Gómez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

A collision led to C.A. INDEPENDIENTE getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Rigoberto Alfaro hit a great ball. Joe Garcia De Paredes's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Monchi Arauz read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 55th minute of play. The supporters of María Chiquita booed when C.A. INDEPENDIENTE was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luchito Herrera didn't get a good kick on the ball. Nicolás Gómez sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. C.A. INDEPENDIENTE's Nicolás Gómez got a good chance for a goal in the 64th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Gabriel Peren fell near the penalty area in the 65th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored María Chiquita's protests and gave Gabriel Peren a yellow card for diving instead. Gabriel Peren hit a great freekick 65 minutes into the match. Alberto Vergara showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nicolás Gómez in the 71st minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luchito Gomez in the 78th minute of play forced C.A. INDEPENDIENTE's goalkeeper Monchi Arauz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 82 minutes into the game, Milton Fernandez was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. C.A. INDEPENDIENTE's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave María Chiquita the free kick. Milton Fernandez kicked well hit freekick during the 82nd minute of the match. Monchi Arauz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomaso Castillero in the 83rd minute of play. María Chiquita's Tomaso Castillero got a good chance for a goal in the 86th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Tomaso Castillero had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luchito Gomez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Monchi Arauz having to interfere. C.A. INDEPENDIENTE's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
