Spectators: 6777 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1777, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Tomaso Treviño started the match with the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Guararé's zone, Gilberto Corral stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Juan Murillo came out of the goal and Gilberto Corral tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Mamitipo's Totin Mendoza suffered a sore thigh after 8 minutes and couldn't finish the game. 8 minutes into the game, Luis Zambrano was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Guararé's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Mamitipo the free kick. In the 9th minute, Luis Zambrano hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 11 minutes, Gilberto Corral managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mamitipo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gilberto Corral was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Lucho Briceño sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Guararé's Tomaso Treviño got a good chance for a goal in the 14th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Tomaso Treviño recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 16th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After having played for 23 minutes, Gilberto Corral managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mamitipo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gilberto Corral was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Gabriel Castillero sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Tomaso Benavides made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gabriel Castillero in the 43rd minute of play. After the first half Guararé were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Gilberto Corral made the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute, Alejandro Brandao hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Gilberto Corral in the 56th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Juan Murillo saved Guararé from getting behind. Mamitipo's Lucho Briceño got a good chance for a goal in the 59th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Tomaso Treviño received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. Tomaso Benavides tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 65th minute of the game. One of Mamitipo:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Guararé:s goal. Gilberto Corral fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Juan Murillo having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Gabriel Castillero during the 79th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 82nd minute, Lucho Briceño hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When the match clock showed 88 minutes, the score became 0-3 when Tomaso Treviño sped through Mamitipo's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Tomaso Benavides. If Gabriel Castillero had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Guararé's Luis Zambrano was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Tomaso Benavides in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Luis De Leon received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 98th minute. Tomaso Benavides tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Guararé walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
