Nuevo San Juan F.C.'s Martín De Diego played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rolando Trejos in the 10th minute of play. Antonio García's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 13thth minute, Ramon Palma skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Hector Quintero during the 15th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Nuevo San Juan F.C. booed when Santa Ana Arriba was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hector Quintero didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ramon Palma breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ramon Palma took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ulpiano Muñoz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Antonio García was the one to do the kick off. A collision led to Santa Ana Arriba getting a freekick after 56 minutes play. Marcos Quirós hit a great ball. The audience was convinced that Antonio García's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ramon Palma was relentless in the 62nd minute of the game. After a defensive mix-up in Santa Ana Arriba's zone, Antonio García stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ramon Palma came out of the goal and Antonio García tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 69 minutes, Tomaso Escalona mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Santa Ana Arriba and the Nuevo San Juan F.C. players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 69 played minutes Santa Ana Arriba got a freekick which was hit by Tomaso Escalona. An unexpectedly hard shot by Raul Tello in the 72nd minute of play forced Santa Ana Arriba's goalkeeper Ramon Palma to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 73rd minute of the match Heraclides Fernández shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ramon Palma showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Tomaso Escalona hit a great freekick 75 minutes into the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Antonio García in the 78th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ramon Palma saved Santa Ana Arriba from getting behind. In the 79th match minute, Nuevo San Juan F.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pedro Navarro to maneuver through the defense. Rolando Trejos blasted a shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Martín De Diego having to make a save. Calito Palma kicked well hit freekick during the 90th minute of the match. 94 minutes into the game, Nuevo San Juan F.C.'s Raul Tello nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ramon Palma made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. Santa Ana Arriba's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
