Alex Chavez was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Orlando Vergara might have been able to make a better finish in the 8th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over David Quiros. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Orlando Vergara ran back to his position shaking his head. If Calito Peralta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Atletico Nacional's Christian Amaya got a free kick in the 17th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Atletico Nacional's zone, Orlando Vergara stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. The supporters of Atletico Nacional booed when Riders on the Storm was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Raul Morales didn't get a good kick on the ball. 29 minutes into the match, Calito Peralta had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of David Quiros. Atletico Nacional's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Calito Peralta was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. Calito Peralta struck a weak shot in the 34th minute. David Quiros didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Riders on the Storm. With a little luck, Riders on the Storm's Alex Chavez got control of the ball when Mārtiņs Bujanovskis tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 47th minute Calito Peralta shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but David Quiros saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Calito Peralta was the one to do the kick off. After a rather tough play, Riders on the Storm's Andrés Henríguez got a free kick in the 51st minute. Mārtiņs Bujanovskis might have been able to make a better finish in the 60th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Alex Chavez. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A collision led to Atletico Nacional getting a freekick after 83 minutes play. Christian Amaya hit a great ball. In the 86th minute, Juan Agurto got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 94th minute, Juan Agurto managed to get in a good position for a shot. Riders on the Storm's supporters rose to their feet, but Juan Agurto was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. David Quiros breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of Riders on the Storm booed when Atletico Nacional was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Christian Amaya didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Juan Agurto came up free with the goalie in the 96th minute, the Riders on the Storm fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Juan Agurto couldn't finish the play. The Atletico Nacional players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
