The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The audience thought a goal was coming when Rolando Trejos got free with Elias Carranza in the 7th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After some fancy dribbling in the 10th minute, Tomaso Cedeño managed to get in a good position for a shot. El Silencio's supporters rose to their feet, but Tomaso Cedeño was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ramon Palma breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Tomaso Escalona hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. After 17 minutes, Hector Quintero mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Santa Ana Arriba and the El Silencio players grew even worse after the yellow card. After recieving a nice pass, El Silencio's Heraclides Ríos tried to score from far away in the 18th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Calito Palma kicked well hit freekick during the 23rd minute of the match. After having played for 26 minutes, Totin Morris managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. El Silencio's supporters crossed their fingers, but Totin Morris was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 28 minutes, Heraclides Quintero mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Santa Ana Arriba and the El Silencio players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 28 played minutes Santa Ana Arriba got a freekick which was hit by Heraclides Quintero. Santa Ana Arriba's Ramon Palma played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Totin Morris in the 29th minute of play. 46 minutes into the match, Santa Ana Arriba's José Amaya sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Elias Carranza narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and José Amaya made a kick off. In the 53rd minute, Rolando Trejos ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Elias Carranza was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. If Totin Morris had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Elias Carranza showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from José Amaya, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. Monchi Herrera kicked well hit freekick during the 68th minute of the match. In the 69th minute of the match Giancarlo Cedeño shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Elias Carranza showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The supporters of Santa Ana Arriba booed when El Silencio was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cesar Moscoso didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 71 played minutes Santa Ana Arriba got a freekick which was hit by Giancarlo Cedeño. The El Silencio fans' excitement grew in the 75th match minute when El Silencio's Totin Morris looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. The audience was convinced that José Amaya's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Elias Carranza was relentless in the 80th minute of the game. Tomaso Cedeño's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 83rdth minute, Ramon Palma skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Totin Morris recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 85th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 88 minutes into the match, Santa Ana Arriba's goalkeeper Ramon Palma had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Tomaso Cedeño. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
